The Mammoth Ivory Clovis Point
A truly one-of-a-kind Clovis point made from Columbian mammoth tusk ivory was found by Mark Adams Sr. on the bank of the Trinity River near Sebastopol, Texas. This article includes analysis by experts from CoBALT Archaeology and the University of Texas, original artwork by Jason Michel, and modern reproductions of mammoth bone and tusk Clovis points by Tyler Doyle of the Nighthawk Naturalist School in Bend, Oregon. The Ivory Clovis point is currently on display at the Museum of the Coastal Bend, located on the campus of Victoria College at the corner of Ben Jordan and Red River in historic Victoria, Texas.
